Starting January 2025, PHOENIX SEP enters the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation and supports The European Commission’s safe and sustainable by design (SSbD) framework by joining the DESIDERATA project:

Advancing industrial value chains with the SSbD framework
The European Commission’s safe and sustainable by design (SSbD) framework aims to support innovation processes for products that enhance wellbeing, while focusing on the protection of citizens and workers through the promotion of safety and sustainability goals during production. Its evolvement is taking place through interaction with the European industrial landscape. With this in mind, the EU-funded DESIDERATA project will test and validate the SSbD framework on several industrial use cases. The framework will be used for the development of alternatives to substances of concern (SoC), with plasticising, flame-retardant and surfactant properties. The project will advance industrial value chains by developing substitutes and using data acquired throughout the process to advise policymakers on modifying and enhancing the SSbD framework.

DESIDERATA brings together a diverse consortium of 16 partners from 13 European Member States and Switzerland, representing a comprehensive collaborative approach to chemical innovation. The project unites 6 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) including Graphene-XT, Monolithos Catalysts & Recycling Ltd., Factor Social, Neovili, PHOENIX SEP and TEMAS Solutions; 1 Large Industry (LATI); 6 Research and Technology Organizations such as the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, ITENE, Universidad de Burgos, GAIKER Technology Centre, Entelos Institute; 2 Universities (ICCRAM University of Burgos and Tampere University); and 2 Associations (Nanotechnology Industries Association and Brimatech Research gGmbH). This multidisciplinary consortium combines industrial expertise and cutting-edge research to drive forward safe and sustainable chemical innovations.
